Virgin vs. Raw Hair

Nowadays, there are many different types of human hair in the industry. The most common labels we find are virgin and raw hair. Both types are human hair, and the main difference is in the processing and the source.

Raw hair is human hair that comes from 1 donor, and that has not been chemically processed or altered in any way. It is the highest quality hair on the market and will come in its natural texture. As a result, raw hair offers limited textures: straight, natural wave, and curly. However, curly raw hair is very rare to find. Raw hair is produced as follows: the hair is taken from the individual donor; the hair will then be washed and wefted to form bundles. When it comes to raw hair, every bundle is unique in texture since each bundle comes from a different person. Furthermore, raw hair requires high maintenance, and it can last for 5+ years if properly taken care of.

Virgin hair is human hair that has been processed with steam to achieve the desired texture. Please note that virgin hair is NOT chemically altered. Virgin hair is collected from several donors. The hair is then cleaned, sorted, and steam processed. Because of the steam processing, there is a wide range of textures available, and all bundles will be identical in texture. As compared to raw hair, cuticle-aligned virgin hair is relatively low maintenance and can last 2-3 years, depending on how well you take care of it!

So, you may wonder: which one is best for me? It depends on your needs! If you want the hair to last more than 5 years and you are willing to pay higher prices and take care of the hair, then raw hair is a good fit for you. However, if you are a beginner and you want hair that is already beautifully styled and easy to maintain, then virgin hair may be the best option for you.
